Five quick checks
- Power: check the fused spur or isolator near the unit and the consumer unit.
- Controller: look for a fault code or warning light and note it.
- Filters: if overdue, replace them and reset the timer.
- Valves: make sure they are open and unobstructed.
- Mode: confirm the unit hasn't been switched to off or the lowest setting.
When to call an engineer
- The unit has no power and the supply is fine
- A fault code returns after resetting
- Water is leaking from the unit
- There is a burning smell or grinding noise
- Airflow is very weak even with new filters
What not to do
Don't remove or bypass the unit's internal safety components, and don't leave a sealed home without ventilation for an extended period. If you need to isolate the unit, open windows regularly until it is repaired.
