We don't design or install new ductwork systems. We replace the unit itself, reconnect it to what's already there, and check the airflow afterwards so you know the new unit is performing as it should.
What a unit replacement includes
- Assessment of the existing unit, ducting connections and condensate drain
- Advice on a suitable like-for-like or equivalent replacement unit
- Safe removal and disposal of the old unit
- Fitting and reconnection to existing ducts, electrics and condensate
- New filters fitted
- Airflow measurement and balancing against your design rates
- Controls, boost and summer bypass tested
- Written report and handover of the new unit's details
Signs your MVHR unit may need replacing
- Repeated faults after previous repairs
- Damaged or corroded heat exchanger
- Failed fans or motors where parts are no longer available
- Unit is very old and inefficient or unreliable
- Repair quote is close to the cost of a new unit
- Manufacturer has discontinued support for the model
How it works
- Assess. We inspect the unit and ductwork, diagnose the fault and tell you honestly whether repair or replacement makes sense.
- Quote. You get a fixed written quote for the replacement unit and fitting.
- Replace. Old unit out, new unit in, ducts, condensate and electrics reconnected.
- Test & balance. Airflow is measured and adjusted, and you receive a written report.
Repair or replace?
Most MVHR faults — filters, fans, controls, condensate and balancing — are repairable at a fraction of replacement cost, and we'll always diagnose first. Replacement makes sense when the heat exchanger is damaged, parts are obsolete or the unit has become unreliable.
What we do and don't do
We replace existing MVHR units connected to existing ductwork. We don't design new duct layouts or fit MVHR systems into homes that don't already have one. If your property needs a new or substantially altered duct system, we'll say so before you commit to anything.
Will a new unit fit my existing ductwork?
Usually, yes — many manufacturers offer units with comparable connection sizes and layouts. Where connections differ, adaptors can often bridge the gap. We check this during the assessment so the quote reflects what's really needed.
