MVHR Filter Replacement in London

The filters are the cheapest and most important component in your MVHR system. Clogged filters reduce airflow, increase fan energy use, let dust reach the heat exchanger and can leave the home under-ventilated.

We supply and fit the right filters for your unit and check airflow afterwards, so you know the new filters are seated properly and nothing is bypassing them.

What we do on a filter visit

  • Identify the correct filter grade and size for your unit
  • Replace supply and extract filters (and any pre-filters)
  • Check seals and filter seating to prevent bypass
  • Reset the filter timer or warning indicator
  • Quick airflow check to confirm the system is moving air

How it works

  1. Tell us your unit. Send a photo of the unit label and we'll confirm the correct filters.
  2. Fit. Old filters out, new filters in, seals checked.
  3. Reset & test. Timer reset and airflow confirmed.

How often should MVHR filters be changed?

Most manufacturers recommend replacing filters every 6 to 12 months and checking them every 3 to 6 months. Homes by busy London roads, with pets, or close to building works can clog filters in under 6 months.

What are G4 and F7 filters?

Filter grades describe how fine the filter is. G4 is a coarse filter that protects the unit from dust and fluff, usually on the extract side. F7 is a finer filter that captures pollen and fine particulates, commonly used on the supply side. Your unit may use different grades, so always check before ordering.

Can I wash and reuse MVHR filters?

Most MVHR filters are disposable and are not designed to be washed; cleaning them damages the filter media and reduces performance. Only reuse a filter if the manufacturer specifies it as washable for that model.

MVHR Filter Replacement: common questions

How often should I change my MVHR filters?

Check every 3–6 months and replace every 6–12 months. More often if you live near a main road, have pets, or notice weaker airflow.

What happens if I never change MVHR filters?

Airflow drops, fans work harder, moisture is no longer removed effectively and the heat exchanger becomes dirty. The result is condensation, mould, stale air and higher running costs.

Which filter does my MVHR use?

It depends on the make and model. The unit label or manual lists the filter grade and size — send us a photo and we will confirm.
